Planar LX1200 Series Reaches 1,000-Unit Shipping Milestone : LX1200 Product Line Meets Growing Demand for Specialty In-Vehicle Touch Displays

BEAVERTON, Ore. (Business Wire EON) August 19, 2008 -- "The key to successful emergency response is 'reliability' of the contributing factors," said Mike Arani, research analyst for Frost & Sullivan. "The Planar LX1200 touch monitors offer this increased reliability through improved data accessibility at all times."

Planar LX displays offer high performance in all lighting conditions and are designed to withstand unpredictable, rugged environments to ultimately help increase safety for its users. Featuring a transflective AMLCD for day or night viewing, a clear glass touchscreen to eliminate wear spots, and configurable macro buttons on the bezel that allow for single-touch screen view changes, the new LX1200TI is designed for fast at-a-glance readability. This makes it beneficial for fleet applications where reducing driver distraction and improving response time and viewing accuracy are critical.

Planar LX displays have also been designed to be more ergonomically friendly than traditional laptops that can strain posture and body positioning when used inside a vehicle. To help mitigate the need for maintenance, a sealed, rugged magnesium housing ensures that the monitor remains clean and resistant to dust and canine hair, which is a concern particularly for police and K-9 units.

Further reducing overall ownership costs, the LX1200TI's design features low power consumption and wide voltage input for in-vehicle use. Finally, for the broadest installation purposes, the LX1200TI is compatible with products from five different mount manufacturers for all popular vehicles.

"With 25 years of experience designing specialty displays, Planar possesses the engineering expertise to create displays for rugged environments and, in particular, all types of fleet vehicle applications," said Doug Barnes, general manager and vice president of the industrial business unit, Planar Systems. "The market feedback we've received from law enforcement users regarding the benefits of the LX series, coupled with the shipping milestone and recent addition of the LX1200TI, demonstrate that Planar is successfully meeting the display requirements for this industry."

Additional Planar LX1200TI features:
